THIS WEEK IN MUSIC...

WELCOME TO A NEW MUSICAL WEEK!!!





MUSIC FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD
(FOR PARENTS)










NURSERY




  • The students will sing the song “Baby Shark"   Please click on this link Baby Shark
  • Read the notes by colors (Mi) 
  • The students will be introduced to music reading using colored musical notes




PK


  • The students will play the rhythm and  beat of the song “Old Mac Donald”
  • Read the notes by colors (Mi,Sol,Si)Colored notes will help them to locate this notes on the staff


KINDER




  • Play the Rhythm of the song “Ill Be Your Friend”
  • Read the notes by colors (Mi, Fa, Sol, la) The colored notes are used to help the children to locate the notes on the staff .




FIRST GRADE
  • Creates small rhythmic patterns using a variety of percussion instruments.  The first graders will able to create and play short rhyhtmic patterns using rhythmic cards and  minor percussion instruments.




SECOND GRADE



  • Write the notes on the first 3 lines of the staff
  • The students will listen to a varied major scales to identify the semitones 
  • Understand and explain the difference between Tone and Semitone
  • Play a song using the F and G notes and quarter, and quarter notes as musical figures with Xilophones. The students will locate the notes in the Xylophone and create tunes using the F and G songs

THIRD GRADE


  • Create small melodic patterns using a variety of sound sources. The students will use their flutes to create sort tunes
  • Write the C scale on the staff
  • Read and play the song  "Los Inditos” using Recorder (First Part)  The children will read scored music and play it with recorders.

FOURTH GRADE


  • Creates small melodic patterns using a variety of sound sources.
  • The students review and locate the notes in lines and spaces.

FIFTH GRADE


  • Create small rhyhthmic patterns
  • Review the notes in treble clef
  • Practice open strings with the violin

Dear parents and students,

I am Miss Pamela Cruz and I will be teaching MUSIC FOR ELEMENTARY and CHOIR.
I studied piano with Aenne Deja Neuber and Hernán Teruel at the Honduran National University. In the United States with professor Leander Bien at Kinheaven Music School in Weston Vermont. As a singer and pianist I performed with Opera and Gospel Organizations in Honduras and the United States. 

As a choral conductor, I have been invited to conduct the ASCAA Honor Choir and Music Fest Honor Choir in Panama City. I am the founder and co-director of the Discovery School Choir which in 2012 was selected to participate in  the "Golden Gate International Choral Festival" in San Francisco Bay Area.  In 2014 Discovery Choir was invited to be part of DCINY Choir to performed the World Premier "Gloria" in the concert "Music Under the Western Sky" under the baton of Doctor Christian Grasses at the Carnegie Hall in New York. This year in April 2017 the choir was the recipient of the "Most Engaging Large Ensemble" award at AASCA Music Festival celebrated in Costa Rica.


As a teacher I worked at the National Conservatory of Music "Francisco Ramón Díaz Zelaya" and National School of Music. I have 23 years of experience in the music field.  This is my 12th year at Discovery School.


Behavior Expectations

Rules based on Respect, Order and Cooperation will be established in order to create a special environment among the students so they can maximize their learning.

Evaluation:

The students will be evaluated weekly. The attendance and practice at home are very important in this class. The students will learn the basics of the percussion instruments,recorder and violin.
