WELCOME BACK!






FOR PARENTS




NURSERY



  • The student will: 
  • Learn the Discovery Song (Part 1)
  • Play the beat and rhythm of the song “Who Came to the School Today”
  • Read the notes by colors (Mi,Sol,Si)
  • Learn the actions for the first part of the song 


PRE-KINDER







  • Play the beat of the song “Pitero”
  • Discovery Song (First Part)
  • The teacher will introduce the note chosen for the class through charts
  • Explore the instrument by playing quarter notes
  • Learn the first part of the song “Pitero” 
  • The students will learn the actions for the first part of the song.
  • Read the notes by colors (Mi,Sol,Si)

KINDER

The student will : 


  • Play the Rhythm of the song “A la capotin”
  • Sing the Discovery Song (Part 1)
  • Read the notes by colors (do,re,mi)
  • The students will walk with the rhythm of the songs 
  • The students will walk with the rhythm saying the words.


FIRST GRADE

The students will:

  • Learn the Discovery Song (First part)
  • Create small melodic patterns using a variety of sound sources.
  • Perform the first part (4 measurements) of the song “Candu” with Tambourines

SECOND GRADE

The students will learn:


  • Discovery Song (Part 1)
  • Routine Procedures
  • Discovery Song
  •  Practice of the E, F and G notes in the Xylophone
  • Analyze the first part of the introduction from the Song ¨London Bridge¨




THIRD GRADE


  • Discovery Song (Part 1)
  • The students will be instructed about discipline procedures and instrument maintenance
  • Create small melodic patterns using a variety of sound sources.
  • Perform the song “Hot Cross Buns” using Xylophone 



 FOURTH GRADE


  • Discovery song (Part 1)
  • The class will read at first sight the next  4 measurements of the Variation 1 of the song “Song for F Sharp” ( Part 1)
  •  The class will analyze the rhythmic pattern of the song “Song for F Sharp”
  •  The class will create 10 measurements of rhythmic patterns using quarters, quarter note rests eighth and sixteenth notes on 4/4 time signature meter


FIFTH GRADE


  • Discovery Song (Part 1)
  • The class will read at first sight the next 8 measurements of the Variation 1 of the song “Song For F Sharp” ( Part 1)
  • The class will analyze the rhythmic pattern of the song “Song for F Sharp”
  • The class will create 15 measurements of rhythmic patterns using  eighth and sixteenth notes

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

Dear parents and students,

I am Miss Pamela Cruz and I will be teaching MUSIC FOR ELEMENTARY and CHOIR.
I studied piano with Aenne Deja Neuber and Hernán Teruel at the Honduran National University. In the United States with professor Leander Bien at Kinheaven Music School in Weston Vermont. As a singer and pianist I performed with Opera and Gospel Organizations in Honduras and the United States. 

As a choral conductor, I have been invited to conduct the ASCAA Honor Choir and Music Fest Honor Choir in Panama City. I am the founder and co-director of the Discovery School Choir which in 2012 was selected to participate in  the "Golden Gate International Choral Festival" in San Francisco Bay Area.  In 2014 Discovery Choir was invited to be part of DCINY Choir to performed the World Premier "Gloria" in the concert "Music Under the Western Sky" under the baton of Doctor Christian Grasses at the Carnegie Hall in New York. Last year April 2017 the choir was the recipient of the "Most Engaging Large Ensemble" award at AASCA Music Festival celebrated in Costa Rica and "Superior Perfect Score" at the ABSH Music Festival hosted by EIS in San Pedro Sula City this year.


As a teacher I worked at the National Conservatory of Music "Francisco Ramón Díaz Zelaya" and National School of Music. I have 24 years of experience in the music field.  This is my 13th year at Discovery School.


Behavior Expectations

Rules based on Respect, Order and Cooperation will be established in order to create a special environment among the students so they can maximize their learning.

Evaluation:

The students will be evaluated weekly. The attendance and practice at home are very important in this class. The students will learn the basics of the percussion instruments,recorder and violin and how to practice t home effectively.

First Grade Class




  • The students will create a song using the C Scale with Xylophones
  • The class will read and sing 4/4 time signature meter melodic patterns using half notes and eight notes.


Second Grade Classic

  • The students will practice individually of C scale notes with the Xylophones and will read simple melodic patterns at first sight.
  • The class will review the song Tomorrow ( Solo Parts) 

Third Grade Class


  • The class will practice the G scale fingering on their flute
  • The class practice the Drill 29 for Recorder Flute


Fourth Grade Class 








  • The students will review the song "Ode to Joy Medley" (Full accompaniment part)
  • The students will practice indivdually the accompaniment part.


Fifth Grade Class


  • The class will continue practicing fingering position drills on E,A,D and G string
  • The class will play  the song Ode to Joy/ Pachelbel medley
